Hand Crafting

Hand crafted English Bridle Leather are what makes Essenjayleathersupplies dog leads and dog collars special

The following photographs show some of the tools and techniques we use to make our products.

The leather is cut using a plough gauge and head knife , the strips of leather are then trimmed to length.

All edges of the pieces are bevelled using an edge shave.

When required the surface edges can have fine lines applied to enhance the overall appearance

The pieces to be stitched are placed in the jaws of a ’saddlers clam’, pierced with a sharp awl, then by means of the ‘anti run’ twin needle method are stitched together using strong, beeswaxed linen thread.
